Safeguarding Our Youth

Youth Protection & Safeguarding.

The standards that keep every young person in our programs safe — and the commitments every adult who works with them makes.

Men and Women of Might Foundation

Effective Date: August 30, 2026Last Updated: August 30, 2026

Men and Women of Might Foundation (“Foundation,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to providing a safe, respectful, supportive environment for every young person participating in our programs.

This policy establishes the standards that protect minors in our care. It applies to everyone who interacts with young people through Foundation activities — directors, staff, mentors, volunteers, committee members, instructors, and partners — in person and online. Safety comes first, always.

1

Purpose

Men and Women of Might Foundation (“Foundation,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to providing a safe, respectful, supportive environment for every young person participating in our programs.

The Foundation provides mentorship, educational workshops, personal-development programs, business and financial-literacy education, webinars, events, and community activities that may serve boys and girls.

This policy establishes standards designed to protect minors from abuse, neglect, exploitation, harassment, bullying, grooming, inappropriate conduct, and other preventable harm.

The safety and well-being of youth participants take priority over convenience, reputation, programming, or organizational interests.

2

Scope

This policy applies to anyone interacting with minors through Foundation activities, including:

•• Directors and officers

•• Employees and contractors

•• Mentors and volunteers

•• Committee members

•• Instructors and speakers

•• Program and event personnel

•• Interns and community partners

•• Other authorized representatives

It applies to both in-person and virtual interactions.

4

Code of Conduct

All adults who interact with youth through the Foundation are expected to model respect, patience, and integrity at all times — in person and online. The Foundation prohibits:

•• Any form of physical, verbal, emotional, or sexual abuse, or any behavior that could reasonably be perceived as abusive

•• Corporal punishment of any kind

•• Harassing, bullying, intimidating, or humiliating a young person

•• Grooming behavior, including special favors, private gifts, or one-on-one contact outside of Foundation activities

•• Asking a young person to keep secrets from their parents or guardians

•• Sharing personal contact information with youth participants, except as required for program purposes and approved in advance

•• Being under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs while supervising youth

Adults avoid being alone with a single young person out of sight of others, and conduct mentoring relationships transparently — with the knowledge of parents, guardians, and program staff.

5

Supervision Requirements

The Foundation maintains appropriate supervision at every Foundation activity involving youth:

•• Two-adult rule: wherever practicable, at least two screened adults are present with youth, in open, observable spaces — in person and online

•• Age-appropriate ratios of adults to youth are set for each program and kept on file

•• Virtual sessions are hosted through approved platforms, led by a designated adult, and co-hosted or recorded where practicable

•• Sign-in and sign-out procedures confirm that youth arrive and leave with an authorized adult

No adult transports a youth participant alone without written parental authorization and advance approval from program leadership.

6

Reporting Concerns & Protocol

Anyone who suspects abuse, neglect, exploitation, or a violation of this policy must report it promptly:

•• If a young person may be in immediate danger, call 911 first

•• Tell the Foundation’s designated safeguarding contact as soon as possible at (786) 541-5095 or info@menandwomenofmight.org

•• Suspected child abuse or neglect is reported to the appropriate state authorities, as required by law

The Foundation takes every report seriously, responds without delay, protects those who report in good faith from retaliation, and maintains confidentiality to the extent permitted by law.

7

Confidentiality

Information about youth participants — including personal details, family circumstances, and anything shared during mentorship — is treated as confidential and shared only with those who need it to operate programs safely.

Confidentiality may be set aside where disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect a young person from harm.

8

Training

Every adult who works with youth through the Foundation completes safeguarding training before working directly with minors and refreshes it regularly. Training covers:

•• Recognizing the signs of abuse, neglect, and grooming

•• The Foundation’s code of conduct and supervision rules

•• How to respond to and report a concern

•• Safe communication with youth, including online safety

9

Screening of Staff & Volunteers

All staff, mentors, and volunteers who may work with minors are screened before they begin:

•• A completed application and an interview

•• Reference checks

•• Identity verification

•• Background screening as permitted by law, including criminal background checks where applicable

An adult removed for a safeguarding concern is not reassigned to youth programs, and unsuccessful applicants are not permitted to work with youth.

10

Photography & Media Consent

The Foundation may photograph or record programs for documentation, which can include youth participants. Before any image or recording that identifies a young person is used publicly — on the website, in printed materials, or on social media — the Foundation obtains written permission from the parent or guardian, consistent with its Privacy Policy.

Parents and guardians may decline photography at any time, and declining does not affect a young person’s ability to participate.

11

Communication & Digital Safety

All communication with youth participants is conducted through approved channels, is professional and purposeful, and remains visible to parents, guardians, and program staff.

Mentors do not communicate privately with youth on personal social media accounts, and virtual sessions follow the supervision rules above wherever they are held.

12

Review of This Policy

This policy is reviewed at least annually, and whenever there is a significant change to programs or personnel. Updates are posted to this page and the “Last Updated” date is revised accordingly.

Feedback from parents, guardians, youth participants, volunteers, and mentors is welcomed as part of every review.
