PROJECT 1000BRING BROWARD BACK™

1,000 Students. 1,000 Opportunities. One Stronger Broward.

A community-driven enrollment recovery and student retention initiative presented by Men & Women of Might Foundation.

PROJECT 1000 seeks to identify, reconnect with and help enroll up to 1,000 school-age children into Broward County Public Schools — and to support their retention, so they stay enrolled and thriving.

A public / private partnership · Not a protest. A plan.

What Is PROJECT 1000

A plan to bring Broward’s children back to the classroom.

PROJECT 1000 is an enrollment recovery and student retention initiative. It exists because somewhere in Broward County there are children who are school-age but not in school — and families who want them there, but who ran into a wall they could not get past alone.

The initiative brings schools, families, churches, nonprofits, businesses and community leaders into one coordinated effort with a single, measurable goal: identify, reconnect with and help enroll up to 1,000 school-age children into Broward County Public Schools — then support those students and families so they stay enrolled and keep moving forward.

This is not a campaign of complaint. It is a partnership of people who are willing to do the quiet, patient work: make the calls, sit at the kitchen table, walk a parent through the paperwork, and check back in three months later.

Our Commitment

Every child in this initiative is treated as a person, not a number.

Parents and guardians are partners in every step. Student information is handled with care and only ever used to help that student reconnect, enroll, and stay in school.

Why It Matters

Enrollment recovery is recovery, period.

When a child stops attending, the loss reaches past the school building. It reaches the household, the neighborhood, and the next generation. Bringing a student back is one of the highest-return things a community can do.

01

Enrollment Recovery

Every empty seat is a young person who stopped showing up. PROJECT 1000 works to find them, understand what happened, and help bring them back into Broward County Public Schools — with the family at the center of the decision.

02

Student Retention

Getting a student enrolled is the beginning, not the finish line. Retention support means someone stays connected to that family long after the first day back, so a student stays enrolled and keeps progressing.

03

Family Partnership

Nothing happens over a parent’s head. Families are informed, asked, and supported — with help understanding enrollment steps, documentation, and the options that fit their child.

04

Community Collaboration

Schools, churches, nonprofits, businesses, and neighbors all hold a piece of the answer. PROJECT 1000 is built as a public/private partnership, so the people who already serve these families work as one coalition.

“Every child in Broward deserves an adult who notices when they stop showing up — and who comes looking.”

How It Works

Five steps. One child at a time.

A simple, repeatable process the coalition can run again and again across Broward County — and measure honestly at each stage.

01

Identify

Work with schools, families, and community partners to identify school-age children in Broward who are not currently enrolled or who have disengaged.

02

Reconnect

Make respectful, persistent contact with the family — meeting them where they are, listening first, and never pressuring a parent.

03

Enroll

Help the family work through enrollment: the right school, the documentation needed, and the people to talk to, so the process stops being a wall.

04

Retain

Stay connected after the first day back — checking in with the student and family so small problems get solved before they become another absence.

05

Support

Connect the student and family to mentorship, resources, and the Foundation’s programs so they have a reason to stay and a path forward.

Parents and guardians stay in charge. No child is enrolled, contacted, or listed without the family’s knowledge and consent.

Data & Impact

We will publish the real numbers.

PROJECT 1000 is accountable to the community it serves. Progress will be reported against the same measures from day one, so partners, funders, and families can see exactly what the coalition has done — and what is still ahead.

Only aggregate figures are ever reported publicly. No student is named, and no individual family’s information is shared.

Awaiting Reported Figures

The measures below are the initiative’s scoreboard. They are shown unfilled on purpose: PROJECT 1000 reports figures only once they are verified, never estimates presented as results.

Public / Private Partnership

This works when we do it together.

No single institution can reconnect a thousand students alone. PROJECT 1000 is built as a coalition — public, private, faith, and community — sharing one goal and one scoreboard.

As a School or District

Share aggregate, non-identifying enrollment data so the coalition knows where the need is greatest.

As a Church or Nonprofit

Open your doors, your networks, and your trust with the families you already serve.

As a Business or Sponsor

Underwrite outreach, family support, and the follow-up that turns one conversation into one enrolled student.

As a Volunteer

Give an hour a week to outreach, check-ins, and making sure no family is left waiting for an answer.

Measurable

One scoreboard, published, for everyone to see.

Consent-First

Families decide. Always. No exceptions.

Built to Last

Retention support, not a one-time push.

Get Involved

One form. Four ways to help.

Whether you are a parent who needs help, a leader who wants to partner, or a supporter who wants to give — start here and PROJECT 1000 will follow up.

  • ✦Refer a family or a child who has disengaged from school
  • ✦Partner your school, church, nonprofit, or business with PROJECT 1000
  • ✦Volunteer for outreach and family follow-up
  • ✦Donate or sponsor the work so it can keep going

Call us at (786) 541-5095 or email info@menandwomenofmight.org and a member of the PROJECT 1000 team will be glad to help.

PROJECT 1000 works with parents and guardians at every step. Information you share about a child or family is handled confidentially and used only to help reconnect and enroll that student.
